Grønnsakar

Grow to like what will grow

In clean and well-fed soil, we nurture organic greens and purples year-round on a small, less than ideal urban property. We challenge palates and perceptions, maximize production, and paint the earth with nourishing plants. We create the bowls that display them and the boards that they are prepared on. Fresh leaves, seedlings, tours, garden installation and consultation services available. Grønnsakar, "green things", hails from Sarah's Norwegian heritage, where there is no generic term for vegetable. Her ancestors would have grown cabbages on mountainsides and foraged for greens in a vast landscape. Sarah grows close to 100 varieties for our salads on a little patch of land, traditionally used by the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, and Neutral people. Sarah's love of wool also runs in her Nordic genes, as she creates naturally dyed felted puppets and garments. Ask about our performances available for off-site birthday parties, schools and other venues as well as workshops and presentations.
